Although animals are similar to humans, their cancers are classified in different ways. In humans Melanoma Cancer is cured by surgery or medicine, but in dogs the cancer is left alone unless it is posing problems to the dog’s health. “Sometimes melanomas are categorized as a round cell tumor because they are typically round, raised, and darkly pigmented.” (Canine Cancer Organization) This quote states how a cancer cell is recognized in a dog. There was another website that stated that horses could get Melanoma skin Cancer also. “There may be a genetic basis for the development of certain cancers as certain breeds of dogs have been found to have a higher incidence of skin cancer.”(Canine Cancer Organization) This quote means that some dog breeds are more likely to get Melanoma than others. This is because of the genetics and some of the breeds are prone to it than others. Humans Melanoma Cancer is sometimes fatal to humans, but not as much dogs. Melanoma skin cancer reacts in different ways for everybody, even animals.
